About The Position

The Kitchen Helper is responsible for washing and storing all pots, pans, and utensils properly during their assigned shift. This role also involves maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen environment, including machinery, storage areas, and floors. Additionally, the Kitchen Helper may assist cooks with basic food preparation tasks.

Requirements

• Ability to operate a pot washing machine.
• Knowledge of proper cleaning and sanitizing procedures for kitchen equipment and areas.
• Ability to wash pots by hand effectively.
• Skill in air-drying and storing kitchen items.
• Ability to maintain cleanliness of storage racks, floors, and walls.
• Experience cleaning kitchen machinery, walk-in coolers, and tables.
• Proficiency in sweeping, scrubbing, and mopping floors.
• Ability to clean walls, counters, and food production areas.
• Skill in cleaning and organizing loading dock and storage areas.
• Experience with garbage disposal.
• Basic food preparation skills (peeling, cutting).

Nice To Haves

• Experience operating a pressure washer.
• Willingness to perform tasks such as painting.
• Experience assisting cooks with food preparation.

Responsibilities

• Operates pot washing machine, ensuring it is in proper working condition and reporting any issues to a supervisor.
• Scrapes and pre-washes pans before machine washing, and cleans the machine after use.
• Washes pots by hand when the machine is not operational, ensuring all food, grease, and residue are removed.
• Ensures washed items are air-dried and stored neatly, rotating stock for regular use.
• Maintains cleanliness of pot and storage racks, including surrounding floors and walls.
• Cleans banquet plates and equipment, and ensures they are properly stored.
• Cleans kitchen machinery, walk-in coolers, and tables.
• Sweeps, scrubs, and mops the floor at the end of every shift.
• Cleans walls, counters, and food production areas.
• Cleans and organizes the loading dock and related storage areas.
• May operate a pressure washer to clean items, especially at season end.
• Performs duties such as pressure cleaning, painting, and cleaning equipment for season closing.
• Collects and disposes of all garbage in the kitchen.
• Assists cooks with food preparation tasks such as peeling and cutting.
