About The Position

This position involves assisting in the kitchen, following standardized recipes for quantity cooking, and completing required production records. The role requires computer experience or willingness to be trained on the Point of Sale system, and possession of or ability to obtain Food Service Sanitation Certification. The kitchen helper must be able to cross-train and fill in where needed, while understanding and adhering to Federal Food Guidelines.

Requirements

Must be willing and able to follow standardized recipes for quantity cooking.
Ability to complete production records which the Federal Guidelines require.
Have computer experience or willingness to be trained on the Point of Sale Computer system for Food Service.
Must have Food Service Sanitation Certification or be able to acquire a certificate within the probation period.
Ability to cross-train and fill in when needed.
Must be able to understand and follow Federal Food Guidelines.
Applicant must have a telephone number where he/she may be reached because of school emergencies.

Previous experience as a kitchen helper or substitute worker.

Responsibilities

Maintain a high standard of cooking and proper sanitation procedures in all phases of food handling and meal preparation.
Be courteous and patient with all customers and staff.
Prepare orders of food and supplies.
Check all deliveries for quality and quantity and sign all delivery slips and invoices.
Be responsible for safe operation, care, and maintenance of all equipment.
Follow proper portion control to meet nutrition and Federal guidelines.
Maintain necessary records of meals being served.
Be constantly alert for unsafe conditions and report them immediately.
Be safety minded.
Other duties as assigned.
