About The Position

The Kitchen Helper supports the Milford Senior Center Meals on Wheels Program by maintaining clean and orderly kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils, and assisting kitchen staff with daily tasks. The position is part-time and scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The role assists with meal packaging and distribution, prepares and cleans beverage urns and condiments, supports serving lines, moves supplies and completed food packages, and monitors food temperatures. The Kitchen Helper follows Food Code sanitation and safety regulations and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Contribute to positive team spirit; follow policies, procedures, instructions, and management direction; be consistently punctual; demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness; complete work in a timely manner; observe safety and security procedures; and use equipment and materials properly.

Nice To Haves

ServSafe Certification is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Assist with packaging and distributing meals.
Prepare and clean tea, coffee, and water urns and condiments for congregate clients.
Maintain cleanliness of work areas, remove trash, and clean and sanitize pots, pans, and utensils as assigned.
Follow sanitation and safety regulations as noted in the Food Code.
Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.
Monitor food temperatures using thermometers.
Back up serving lines and ensure the line has an adequate amount of food.
Transfer completed food packages to appropriate areas for transport or storage.
Gather supplies and products needed for daily operations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
