About The Position

Assists with the preparation, serving, and cleanup of food for students. This is a 10-month position, 6 hours per day, with a schedule from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday, aligning with the school year. The role involves food preparation, cleaning equipment and kitchen areas, serving food, and performing various food service duties. The position requires the ability to work positively with students and staff, adapt to changes, and maintain a good attitude towards the foodservice program. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and experience in high-volume food preparation or school kitchens is preferred. New hires must complete a Food Handlers Class within 30 days of employment.

  • Ability and willingness to follow work instructions in all areas of foodservice and maintain a positive attitude toward the foodservice program.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in high-volume food preparation and serving is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Performs assigned duties associated with the preparation of meals.
  • Cooks and bakes food, prepares individual portions, and performs other food preparation duties as assigned.
  • Cleans equipment used, including utensils, dishes, mixers, and machines.
  • Performs general cleaning duties in the kitchen.
  • Performs miscellaneous food service duties as assigned, including acting as a cashier for lunch (secondary only), putting machines together, counting money, ordering and putting away supplies, and securing food in containers for shipment to other school kitchens.
  • Serves prepared food to students.
  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
  • Able to interact with students, building staff, kitchen staff and supervisors in a positive manner.
