About The Position

The Kitchen Helper will be responsible for maintaining kitchen work areas and equipment in clean and orderly condition, as well as assisting kitchen staff with daily tasks. This is a part-time position at the Milford Senior Center, specifically for the Meals on Wheels Program, operating Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 1:30 pm. The role includes paid holiday, sick, and vacation time.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• One to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Contributes to building a positive team spirit

• Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
• Completes work in a timely manner
• Observe safety and security procedures

Responsibilities

• Assists in the packaging and distribution of meals
• Prepares and cleans tea, coffee, and water urns (and condiments) for congregate clients
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas, remove trash, clean, and sanitize pots, pans, and utensils as assigned
• Follow sanitation and safety regulations as noted in the Food Code
• Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas
• Monitor food temperatures using thermometers
• Backs up serving lines, makes sure the line has an adequate amount of food
• Transfer completed food package to appropriate areas for transport or storage
• Gather supplies and products needed for daily operation
• Other duties may be assigned
