Kitchen Helper - Temporary Full-Time - Kalaupapa, Molokai
About The Position
This is a temporary, full-time position with the Department of Health, located in the Kalaupapa Settlement in Kalawao County, on the Island of Molokai. Kalaupapa is a severely isolated community accessible only by a small commuter airplane, or on foot or mule down a steep trail. Ocean access is limited. It is a closed community where only authorized persons may enter, and minors are not allowed. The Settlement is self-contained with various facilities including a care home, grocery store, airport, and over 150 homes and buildings. Employees appointed to temporary positions may become members of the civil service upon satisfactory completion of a probation period, gaining eligibility for promotion and transfer opportunities, as well as other rights and benefits afforded to permanent positions, with exceptions for return and placement rights during a reduction-in-force.
Requirements
- No training and experience required.
Responsibilities
- Assist cooks in preparing meals.
- Prepare and deliver meals to care homes and patients' homes.
- Wash and sanitize dishes, silverware, food containers, pots and pans.
- Sweep and mop dining room, outside porch, reefers, chill rooms, storerooms.
- Clean tables, trays, counter tops, sinks.
- Empty trash and take out trash.
- Replenish condiments on tables.
- Load prepared food onto truck for delivery.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
