About The Position
This position assists in the preparation and serving of food to students and staff in a quick and professional manner. The role involves daily food preparation, implementing H.A.C.C.P. procedures, cleaning kitchen equipment, setting up and breaking down serving lines, operating equipment, and handling transactions with students and staff. Familiarity with reimbursable lunch requirements is necessary. The position also requires participation in training programs to improve skills and contribute to the district's lunch program. Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is essential.
Requirements
- Successful completion of certification for Applied Food Service Sanitation Course taken through statewide training or local training.
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Previous experience with large scale cooking and food preparation/serving.
- Ability to pass an entry level aptitude test.
- Ability to work in a friendly manner with co-workers and students.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily food preparation as assigned, including but not limited to salad making, sandwich making, deli slicing, cookies, pretzels, etc.
- Implement H.A.C.C.P. procedures as requested.
- Assist with the daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment and ensure cleanliness and sanitation conditions are met.
- Sets up and breaks down serving lines (salad bar, hot food, a la carte, etc.).
- Operate all equipment, POS/cash register, count money, make change, and reconciliation of bank deposit and daily paper work.
- Works professionally with both students and staff.
- Is familiar with reimbursable lunch requirements and can properly identify a reimbursable lunch.
- Participate in workshops or in-service training programs which may improve his/her skills for overall improvement of the district’s lunch program.
- Perform other similar duties as may be requested by the Head Cook and/or Director of Food Service.
- Maintain regular, reliable and punctual attendance.
