About The Position

The Kitchen Assistant role at Grand Manor involves actively participating in Excel Society’s Health and Safety Program, including hazard identification, assessments, worksite inspections, and reporting safety concerns. The position requires awareness and implementation of safety emergency response procedures, making informed decisions that align with company values, and upholding a safe working environment. Responsibilities include assisting with catering functions, liaising with supervisors on problems, ensuring dish machine temperatures are checked and recorded, maintaining cleanliness of the food services area according to Public Health standards, and ensuring information is exchanged between staff during shift changes.

Requirements

  • Working in fast pace environment with tight deadlines
  • Lifting up to a minimum of 25 pounds.
  • Food Safe Handler’s certificate from a recognized institution.
  • First Aid CPR Level C Certificate is required
  • Police Check with Vulnerable sector is mandate.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate with Excel Society’s Health and Safety Program, including hazard identification and assessments, worksite inspections and reporting noted safety concerns, and participating with hazard control efforts.
  • Be aware of and implement as required Excel Society’s Safety Emergency Response Procedures.
  • Make timely and informed decisions that consider facts, goals, constraints, risk, Excel Society Values, and the Excel Advantage.
  • Strive to uphold a safe working environment and be Health and Safety conscious and actively involved in maintaining and improving a safe work environment.
  • Assisting with all catering functions.
  • Liaising with immediate supervisor, to inform, consult, and problem-solve regarding any serious problems/concerns encountered in providing service.
  • Ensuring dish machine temperatures are checked and recorded on established forms.
  • Ensuring the food services area is kept clean according to Public Health standards.
  • Ensuring the surrounding area is kept clean and maintained according to procedures.
  • Ensuring all required information is exchanged between staff members during shift exchange.
