About The Position

The Spring is seeking a motivated and dependable Kitchen Assistant for weekdays from 10am to 6pm. The Spring is a faith-based service provider, shelter, and advocacy organization for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking. The Kitchen Assistant prepares and serves preplanned meals, maintains a clean and sanitary environment, and ensures a welcoming, respectful space for guests. This role assists with food preparation, cooking, serving, labeling, and storing meals according to established menus and food safety guidelines.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least one year of experience in a commercial kitchen or food service environment.
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Effective and professional communication skills.
Reliability and strong attention to food safety standards, including allergen awareness, temperature control, sanitation, and proper food storage.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to sign The Spring's Statement of Faith.
Ability to pass a 7-year background check.

Responsibilities

Assists with food preparation, cooking, serving, labeling, and storing meals according to established menus and food safety guidelines.
Maintains cleanliness of the kitchen, dining areas, and equipment.
Follows all health and safety regulations.
Monitors inventory using proper labeling and rotation methods.
Restocks supplies.
Promptly reports maintenance or safety concerns.
May provide guidance to volunteers.
Attends required trainings.
Maintains a current Food Handler's Certificate.
