About The Position

Colorado International Language Academy (CILA) is seeking a dependable, caring, and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to join our school nutrition team. CILA operates a scratch kitchen focused on preparing fresh, nutritious meals for our students. We are looking for someone who takes pride in cooking and serving quality food while creating a safe, clean, and welcoming dining experience for children.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous kitchen, food service, or school experience is helpful but not required.
A genuine interest in preparing and serving nutritious meals to children.
Willingness to learn and participate in required training.
Dependable, punctual, organized, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong teamwork, communication, and time-management skills.
Ability to interact positively and respectfully with elementary and middle school students.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift or carry up to 30 pounds.
Must pass a background check and meet all school employment requirements.
Food safety certification may be required or completed after hire.

Responsibilities

Assist with preparing fresh, nutritious meals from scratch according to established menus, recipes, and portion guidelines.
Set up serving areas and prepare food for efficient meal service.
Serve students in a friendly, patient, and professional manner.
Wash dishes and clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, counters, and work areas.
Assist with garbage removal and end-of-service cleanup.
Receive, restock, rotate, and organize food and kitchen supplies.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, allergy, and student confidentiality procedures.
Maintain accurate records as directed by the Food and Nutrition Manager.
Work cooperatively with the kitchen team and respond to changing needs during meal preparation and service.
Follow all CILA policies and applicable local, state, and federal school nutrition requirements.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
