About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting in the preparation and serving of meals, cleaning kitchen equipment, washing dishes, and maintaining the cleanliness of kitchen floors. The role involves preparing meals, beverages, and snacks, including washing and chopping produce, mixing beverages, and arranging snacks. Additionally, the Kitchen Assistant will serve meals, ensuring correct portion sizes, and will be responsible for washing, drying, and storing kitchenware and utensils. Cleaning of dining areas, such as tables and chairs, is also part of the duties. The role may also involve assisting with special arrangements for events and programs.

Requirements

• Ability to meet attendance requirements
• Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language
• One year experience working in a kitchen preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Safe Serve Certification upon hire, if required
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Food Service Manager Certificate upon hire, if required

Responsibilities

• Assists in the preparation and serving of meals
• Cleans kitchen equipment and washes dishes
• Sweeps, mops, and waxes floors
• Assists in preparing meals, beverages and snacks
• Washes and chops fruits and vegetables
• Mixes beverages and arranges snacks
• Assists in serving meals ensuring appropriate proportions are provided
• Washes, dries, and stores pots, pans, plates, glasses, cups, bowls and utensils
• Cleans tables, chairs, and condiment holders
• Assists in making special arrangements for special events and/or programs
• Performs other related work as required
