About The Position

The Spring is seeking a motivated and dependable Kitchen Assistant for weekdays from 10am to 6pm. The Spring is a faith-based service provider, shelter, and advocacy organization for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking. The Kitchen Assistant prepares and serves preplanned meals, maintains a clean and sanitary environment, and ensures a welcoming, respectful space for guests. This role assists with food preparation, cooking, serving, labeling, and storing meals according to established menus and food safety guidelines.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
At least one year of experience in a commercial kitchen or food service environment
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
Effective and professional communication skills
Reliability and strong attention to food safety standards, including allergen awareness, temperature control, sanitation, and proper food storage
Valid driver's license
Ability to sign The Spring's Statement of Faith
Ability to pass a 7-year background check

Responsibilities

Maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen, dining areas, and equipment
Following all health and safety regulations
Monitoring inventory using proper labeling and rotation methods
Restocking supplies
Promptly reporting maintenance or safety concerns
Providing guidance to volunteers
Attending required trainings
Maintaining a current Food Handler's Certificate
Preparing and serving preplanned meals
Assisting with food preparation, cooking, serving, labeling, and storing meals according to established menus and food safety guidelines
