About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting in the preparation and serving of meals, cleaning kitchen equipment, washing dishes, and maintaining floor cleanliness. The role involves preparing meals, beverages, and snacks, including washing and chopping produce, mixing beverages, and arranging snacks. The Kitchen Assistant will also assist in serving meals, ensuring correct portion sizes, and will be responsible for washing, drying, and storing kitchenware and utensils. Additionally, the role includes cleaning tables, chairs, and condiment holders, and assisting with special arrangements for events and programs. The position requires the ability to meet attendance requirements and communicate in English. Duties involve frequent walking and standing, with periods of kneeling or squatting, balanced by lesser periods of sitting. The work environment is a normal kitchen with potential discomforts from hot stoves/ovens or cold freezers.

Requirements

Ability to meet attendance requirements
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language
One year experience working in a kitchen preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Ability to obtain and maintain a Safe Serve Certification upon hire, if required
Ability to obtain and maintain a Food Service Manager Certificate upon hire, if required
