About The Position

Casa Esperanza Inc. is seeking an on-call cook to cover holidays, vacations, and unexpected call-outs. The kitchen assistant role is a per diem position. Typical hours are 6am-2pm depending on program needs. Hours are not guaranteed. The kitchen assistant plans and prepares three healthy meals per day for approximately 75 individuals. They also ensure that a variety of healthy snacks are available to residents throughout the day. It requires availability from Sunday through Monday from 6am to 2pm.

Requirements

At least 2 years of food preparation and kitchen management experience, preparing meals for 75+ guests per meal.
SERV Safe certified or willingness to obtain upon hire
Experience preparing Latin American cuisine is required.
Minimum high school diploma or GED required
CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
food service: 1 year (required)

Skill cook: 1 year (required)

Responsibilities

Skill in cooking and preparing a variety of foods.
Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards.
Ability to organize and coordinate the purchase of food, supplies, and equipment needed to prepare 3 meals per day and make healthy snacks available for up to 75 individuals.
Ability to safely use all kitchen equipment and supplies.
Ability to accept receipt of goods and supplies.
Ability to gather data, compile information, prepare reports, and maintain accurate records.
Ability to manage others in a kitchen environment, ensuring safety and quality meal preparation.
Participates in regular training with regard to nutrition and healthy meal preparation
