About The Position

McMenamins Rock Creek Tavern is hiring a Kitchen Assistant-Assistant Manager (KAAM). McMenamins is a family-owned company in Oregon and Washington that serves handcrafted beverages and pub fare. This role involves performing non-management responsibilities, opening and closing duties, acting as host, overseeing shifts, and working both indoors and outdoors seasonally. Maintaining excellent customer relations is crucial. The KAAM must be capable of performing line cook duties, managing labor and food costs, overseeing side work, cleaning, and training staff. Administrative duties as assigned by the manager are also part of the role. Effectively addressing and reporting issues to management, providing excellent customer service to meet needs and requests, and ensuring customer satisfaction are key. The KAAM must be able to troubleshoot problems during shifts and report them to the Chef/Head Manager and District Manager. This position can be physically demanding and requires the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. The KAAM must work well independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Obtain and maintain a current food handler card.
  • Previous high-volume cooking experience is required.
  • Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays preferred.
  • Enjoy working in a busy customer service-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in all kitchen operations under the guidance and direction of the Chef/Manager.
  • Perform the responsibilities of non-management positions.
  • Perform all opening and closing duties of the kitchen.
  • Act as the host and oversee the smooth and effective running of the shift.
  • Work outdoors on a seasonal basis as well as indoors.
  • Maintain and provide excellent customer relations with all customers.
  • Perform all regular job duties of a line cook.
  • Regulate labor and food costs.
  • Oversee side work.
  • Perform cleaning duties.
  • Train staff.
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned by manager.
  • Effectively deal with issues as they arise and report them to the head manager.
  • Provide appropriate service to the customer to meet their needs and requests whenever possible to assure customer satisfaction.
  • Help solve and troubleshoot any problems that come up during the course of a shift.
  • Report any issues to the Chef/Head Manager and District Manager.
