About The Position

Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has been providing quality social services for over 125 years, offering more than 160 programs and services for various age groups and those with mental illness. The Older Adult Centers focus on promoting an active life for seniors, helping them maintain independence and health through diverse activities and services like meals, health screenings, social services, educational workshops, and social events. The Kitchen Aide plays a crucial role in this by preparing and distributing congregate meals, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring food safety standards are met according to DOH and funding source regulations.

Requirements

NYC DOHMH Food Handlers Certification.
Able to comply with nutritional and health safety standards.
Computer literate, Word, Excel, Internet and able to submit menus on line to funder.
Able to travel to multiple locations within the five boroughs as needed.
Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds.

Nice To Haves

High School Diploma or equivalency preferred but not required.
Previous experience in a commercial kitchen preferred.
Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepares and distributes congregate meals according to NYC DOHMH regulations, ensuring proper portion sizes.
Cleans and maintains the kitchen area and related equipment.
Records food temperatures upon delivery and before serving.
Inspects all food deliveries for freshness and accuracy of the order.
Works on developing nutritional values labels for meals.
Packages and distributes food in individual portions.
Records and reports any changes to prescribed menus or food to the Program Director.
Maintains sanitary and health standards according to DOH and funding source regulations.
Ensures food is stored and served at the proper temperature.
Responsible for oversight of kitchen inventory and supplies.
