About The Position

Under direct supervision, the kitchen aide will assist the cook with cooking, organizing, and managing most of the meal preparation tasks

Requirements

  • Must be a currently enrolled California State University Fullerton student in good academic standing
  • Must pass a pre-employment T.B. test prior to commencing work
  • Must fulfill responsibilities of a CA Mandated Reporter of Child Abuse
  • Must provide complete health screen within 30 days of employment
  • Must provide proof of immunization from measles, pertussis, and flu (Flu shot may be declined with written declaration)
  • Upon hire and with consent an employment history and criminal background investigation and fingerprint screening will be completed
  • Must complete: Bloodborne Pathogens Campus Health and Safety Requirements CSU’S Discrimination Harassment Prevention Program Data Security and FERPA Gender Equity and Title IX Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) within 30 days of hire
  • Must be able to lift, lower, push and pull loads ranging in weight from 5-35 lbs
  • Must be able to carry loads ranging from 5-35 lbs for distances up to 20ft

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation of simple breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and drinks such as oatmeal, cereal, waffles, pancakes, muffins, sandwiches, pasta, meat dishes, vegetables, fruits, milk, and juices in accordance with established menu, recipes, and portion requirements.
  • Operates conventional kitchen appliances such as a stove, oven, microwave, toaster, mixer, food processor, and blender
  • Washes, cleans, and stores kitchen equipment, dishes, utensils, and related items
  • Preparing food carts for delivery
  • Maintains kitchen appliances and work and serving areas in a clean and sanitary manner in accordance with established health and safety regulations and practices
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with various A.S. and University departments as well as Children’s Center parents
  • Ensures all operations are conducted with safety of staff and customers as first priority, and in accordance with the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan and other safety policies.
  • Reports accidents to supervisor and reviews changes required to avoid reoccurrence.
  • Reports maintenance problems and/or broken and unsafe equipment to the appropriate party or supervisor immediately
