About The Position

As a Kinetic Burn Table Operator in our Fabrication Department, you will process heavy structural base plates, gussets, and stiffeners, using CNC plasma and oxy-fuel systems to produce precision components that meet AISC standards. This safety-sensitive role requires skilled machine operation, heavy rigging, and material tracking to ensure high-volume, "bolt-ready" production.

Requirements

  • Experience: 1–3 years’ operating CNC plasma and/or oxy-fuel cutting tables with preference for Kinetic or similar equipment.
  • Blueprints: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings. Takla experience is highly preferred
  • Software: Basic knowledge of nesting software, G-code, machine parameters, and cutting charts preferred.
  • Physical: Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for 8–10-hour shifts in a shop environment.
  • Standards: Knowledge of AWS and AISC surface finish and hole tolerance requirements.
  • Layout: Ability to verify "squareness" on large-scale components.
  • Environment: Comfortable in a high-output, industrial fabrication shop.
  • Safety-First Attitude: Strong commitment to safety, consistently utilizing proper safety gear and following safety protocols.
  • Valid Driver’s License: Must hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to Train: Must be willing to complete OSHA 10 training upon being hired.
  • Education: A high school diploma or GED is highly preferred.
  • Team-Oriented: Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating self-motivation and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Machine Operation: Execute cutting programs using CNC controllers (Kinetic or similar interfaces); set and adjust cutting parameters using charts to match material type and thickness.
  • Material Handling: Load and unload steel plate using overhead cranes, forklifts, magnetic, or vacuum lifts while maintaining proper shop organization.
  • Quality Control: Inspect finished parts, verify dimensions, squareness, and hole tolerances against blueprints using calipers and tape measures.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine machine cleaning, tip changes, and assist with table cleanouts (slag removal). Assist other operators with troubleshooting and or relaying information to remote repair technicians.
  • Structural Precision: Cut heavy-gauge plate (up to 3"+) using multi-torch oxy-fuel or high-definition plasma while monitoring cut quality.
  • Integrated Processing: Operate automated drill stations and milling heads; set up and calibrate beveling equipment for weld-prep accuracy.
  • Material Tracking: Manage heat numbers and material certifications (MTRs) to ensure traceability for structural projects.
  • Heavy Rigging: Safe movement of oversized structural plates using magnetic or vacuum lifts and overhead cranes.
