About The Position

ACCEL Schools is hiring a Kindergarten Teacher at Lake Erie Preparatory School in Cleveland, Ohio. The role is focused on providing a superior education, bringing curriculum to life, and creating a positive classroom environment that supports student learning and social-emotional development. Lake Erie Preparatory School is an EK-8 public charter school offering college-preparatory education, including foreign language, STEM, and Career Technical Education. The Teacher plans and delivers instruction, differentiates teaching to meet students’ needs, monitors and records progress, manages classroom behavior, and uses approved curricula and research-based practices. The position also involves communicating with families, collaborating with colleagues, incorporating technology into classroom practice, and supporting non-instructional activities as needed.

Requirements

Active and current State of Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area.
Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
Comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment involving frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to properly manage confidential information.
Ability to supervise students of various ages in different school settings, including playgrounds and cafeterias.
Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
Experience working within an urban environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare and deliver lesson plans, modifying them as appropriate during the school year.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
Use research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
Manage student behavior in the classroom.
Create a positive classroom environment for students to learn in.
Use school-approved curricula that reflect students’ diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms.
Communicate and meet with families regarding their child’s academic and social-emotional growth.
Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning.
Participate in planning and implementing non-instructional activities as needed.
Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
Perform other duties as assigned.
