About The Position

The Kindergarten Teacher will teach students in a manner that they can apply the knowledge and skill required for College and Career Readiness in accordance with the Mississippi Framework and Common Core Curriculum. The teacher will instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter, develop lesson plans, and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student. The role involves creating an effective learning environment, evaluating student growth, communicating with parents, and supervising students in various activities.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Possession of (or eligible for) a valid regular Mississippi teaching certificate (ELEMENTARY ED ENDORSMENT PreK-K, K-3, K-6).

Responsibilities

Teach students in accordance with the Mississippi Framework and Common Core Curriculum.
Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter.
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials.
Provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
Use a variety of instruction strategies.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior.
Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
Communicate with parents through conferences and other means.
Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members.
Create an effective learning environment.
Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities.
Participate in the development of the teacher evaluation method.
Supervise students in out of classroom activities and on field lessons.
Administer group standardized tests.
Participate in Professional Learning Communities, faculty committees, and the sponsorship of student activities.
Use student data to guide instruction and professional development.
Perform other duties as assigned.
