About The Position

Under direction, you will teach and instruct students in Kindergarten, in academic, social, behavioral, and other related skill areas. Plan, develop, organize, and conduct a comprehensive education program for elementary grade students. Support students, parents, and others in assisting students in adjusting to a structured educational environment. Create and maintain an environment that fosters student achievement and the development of lifelong skills Maximize opportunities for student success by creating positive working relationships with students and staff. Actively participate in the establishment of policies and procedures that make sense for this unique teaching and learning environment. Remain flexible, innovative, and adaptive to change. Show confidence in working with new technology and various application packages. Be a role model for students regarding life-long learning and professional behavior Perform other related functions as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in elementary education, instructional technology, a subject matter commonly taught in the elementary grades, or closely related field.
  • Successfully completed student teaching at an accredited college or university.
  • Obtained a license as an elementary teacher.
  • Creative thinker and problem solver.
  • Excellent communicator with strong collaboration skills.
  • Team player.
  • Proficient use of technology.
  • Knowledge of the principles, theories, methods, techniques, and strategies pertaining to teaching and instruction of elementary grade pupils, and child growth and development and behavior characteristics of the elementary grade child.
  • Understanding of educational curriculum and instructional goals and objectives, and the educational trends and research findings pertaining to early childhood educational programming.
  • Understanding of behavior management and behavior shaping strategies, techniques and methods, and conflict resolution procedures.
  • Understanding of the socio-economic and cultural background differences of the general school population.
