About The Position

This is a Kindergarten Teacher position for the 26-27 school year, which is a 1-year-only contract. The role involves planning, implementing, and evaluating classroom instruction and activities aligned with district curriculum. Teachers will diagnose and prescribe learning programs, provide for individual student needs, and cooperate with school staff. The position requires the ability to adapt curriculum for students with diverse abilities and backgrounds, establish effective working relationships, and possess knowledge of instructional principles and intermediate grade level curriculum. Flexibility, strong classroom management skills, and the ability to serve as a role model are essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in the field of education.
  • A valid Washington State teaching certificate.
  • Endorsement in K-8 elementary education.
  • Ability to establish positive discipline procedures.
  • Ability to establish relationships with students, parents and community.
  • Willingness to implement and support the program.
  • Willingness to be involved with school reform activities aimed at ensuring student success.
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.

  • Successful teaching experience at the elementary school level.
  • A demonstrated ability to work well with people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • A demonstrated ability to motivate, discipline, and interact with students in a productive manner.
  • Knowledge of benchmarks and ability to ensure student success on the Smarter Balance Assessments.
  • WA-Kids Assessment Teacher Training.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate classroom instruction and activity programs consistent with building and adopted district curriculum.
  • Diagnose and prescribe learning programs for individual and groups of students based on aptitude, interest and level of achievement.
  • Provide for individual needs of assigned students.
  • Cooperate with building principal and staff in implementation of comprehensive instructional activities program.
  • Provide individual and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual abilities, attitudes, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with the teaching team.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Carry out the assignments of the building principal.
  • Complete WA-Kids data entry when due.
