Requirements

  • Hold or be eligible for Missouri Teaching or Substitute Teacher Certificate
  • Experience in a K-5 setting
  • Effective human relations and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Ensures assigned classes meet and receive instruction in the designated locations and times.
  • Leads the class instructionally when required.
  • Aids in the preparation of assigned classes and provides written evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Utilizes a variety of instructional techniques and media, tailored to the physical location and the diverse capabilities of the students.
  • Reinforces the school’s philosophy of education and instructional goals through daily actions and instruction.
  • Contributes to planning a program of study that aligns with individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Helps guide the learning process toward curriculum goals by establishing and communicating clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
  • Coordinates and supervises purposeful assignments for volunteers while collaborating with department heads.
  • Fosters a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain positive standards of classroom behavior.
  • Assists the administration in fairly and justly implementing school policies and rules governing student conduct.
  • Monitors student accomplishments on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  • Confers with and seeks assistance from school administrators regarding potential student learning disabilities.
  • Collaborates with the designated team to plan and determine appropriate interventions for student needs.
  • Complies with all district rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, school policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities while maintaining safe practices.
  • Maintains availability to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when reasonably requested.
  • Strives to continuously improve professional competence.
  • Attends mandatory staff meetings and serves on designated committees.
  • Handles other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
