About The Position

The mission of The Vanguard School is to help guide students in development of their character and academic potential through academically rigorous, content-rich educational programs. The Elementary Teacher Assistant (Non-Instructional) will provide general assistance and support to teachers and administration.

Requirements

• High School diploma
• Employees must be able to stand and walk for the entirety of an 8-hour shift.
• This position does not involve prolonged sitting.
• All employees must submit to and pass a CBI / FBI fingerprint background check as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Support school operations.
• Effectively interact with students in such areas as problem solving, conflict resolution, self-discipline, etc. during non-class time.
• Supervise and support students in non-instructional areas such as student lunch programs, car line duty, crossing guard duty, actively monitoring recess, and transitions between classes and buildings.
• Regularly assist with student health, including administration of first aid.
• Provides support to homeroom teachers to include assigned clerical duties, grading, making copies, filing papers, changing bulletin boards, etc.
• May serve in a substitute role, when necessary.
• Support the school’s mission through fidelity to policies and practices.
• Work cooperatively with school staff and administration.
