Kindergarten Instructional Assistant
About The Position
This position is for the 2026-2027 School Year. The Instructional Assistant will provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials. Under the supervision of a certified teacher, the assistant prepares for classroom activities, works with small groups of students to reinforce material, and assists individual children needing special attention. The role also involves performing clerical duties, guiding independent study, setting up audio-visual equipment, and assisting with non-instructional classroom duties such as routines for snacks, toilets, and clothing. Additionally, the assistant will check notebooks, correct papers, assist in drill work, reading, storytelling, and small groups in the library. Participation in in-service training programs and other assigned tasks are also part of the responsibilities. The position is evaluated annually by the Teacher and Principal.
Requirements
- Demonstrate aptitude for the work to be performed.
- High school graduate
- 64 college credit hours or pass the Para Educator test for all instructional aides.
- Must be able to lift and/or carry a 50 lb. student.

Responsibilities

- Assists small groups of students in the library.
- Participates in in-service training programs.
- Other tasks that may be assigned.
