About The Position

The teacher plans, instructs, and organizes instructional environments that help students learn subject matter and skills contributing to their educational and social development. This role requires constant monitoring of student safety and well-being, especially during inclusive activities. The teacher must motivate students, maintain an orderly classroom, and perform general clerical duties. Key responsibilities include establishing and enforcing classroom rules and procedures for student behavior and participation, managing transitions efficiently, and ensuring a high level of student engagement and success. The teacher is expected to review previous material, introduce new concepts clearly with understandable language and relevant examples, ask appropriate questions, and maintain a brisk instructional pace. They must also set clear work standards, monitor student progress through various assessments, and provide timely and constructive feedback. The instructional plan should align with school and system-wide curricular goals, utilizing diagnostic information to refine objectives and tasks. Maintaining accurate records, managing resources effectively, and treating all students equitably are crucial. The teacher will also carry out non-instructional duties, adhere to established laws and policies, and engage in professional development. Upholding the Code of Ethics and Standards for Professional Conduct is mandatory, along with performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an approved education program in subject area.
  • North Carolina teaching license.
