This position is for a Kindergarten/1st Grade Teacher at Adams Elementary. Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Seattle Education Association, split-grade assignments are reserved for experienced teachers, not first-year teachers. Beginning teachers must demonstrate proficiency in three evaluation domains to be considered. The role involves fostering an effective learning environment, developing curriculum, establishing learning objectives, providing instruction, counseling students, and evaluating student performance. The teacher will plan instructional programs to meet diverse student needs, including at-risk or special needs youth, and utilize appropriate instructional methods and materials. They will also establish classroom policies, manage student behavior, provide guidance and discipline, and communicate with parents and staff. The teacher will set classroom goals aligned with state and district guidelines, evaluate and record student progress, and prepare reports. Additionally, the role includes directing non-certificated personnel and participating in staff meetings and professional development activities.
