About The Position

Coordinates the activities of the plant to ensure budgeted production goals are achieved while maintaining safety, quality, and environmental compliance. This role involves supervising shift supervisors, overseeing employee development, managing subordinate supervisors, and acting as a liaison with Control Room Operators. The position is also responsible for developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures, participating in improvement projects, and managing routine and non-routine maintenance activities related to the kiln line. Key responsibilities include controlling product inputs and outputs to meet quality targets, ensuring compliance with environmental laws and company commitments, and adhering to occupational health and safety regulations and goals.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized form.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Familiarity with ABB Expert Optimizer (Linkman), Allen Bradley PLC programming, and PI Pressbook and SAP.
  • Engineering degree from a four-year college or university; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two to five years of related experience and/or training.
  • Knowledge of mining, cement manufacturing, and quality management.
  • Knowledge of cement manufacturing processes such as mining, milling, kiln operation, process control, and predictive maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Health, Safety & Environmental legislative/regulatory requirements.
  • Mechanical aptitude/experience.
  • Extensive experience in kiln operations and processes.
  • Fundamental knowledge and experience in Root Cause Analysis and Statistical Reasoning.
  • Analytical, interpretative, evaluative, and/or constructive thinking skills.
  • Ability to create and implement daily, weekly, and monthly production plans.
  • Ability to lead continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ability to manage quality control processes.
  • Ability to manage planned maintenance and repair programs.
  • Ability to identify and analyze problems causing production disruption.
  • Ability to follow annual production plans and budget KPI targets.
  • Ability to plan detailed work for annual scheduled maintenance.
  • Ability to supervise the implementation of occupational health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and organize safety trainings.
  • Ability to raise awareness of employees on occupational health and safety issues.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the work of the shift supervisors, reviewing performance and effectiveness of resource use and operational KPIs.
  • Ensure optimal communication and hand-over between shifts.
  • Implement and review shift production routines.
  • Oversee the development and training of new and existing employees.
  • Manage subordinate supervisors who will supervise all hourly employees in the Production Department.
  • Confer with workers' representatives to resolve grievances.
  • Oversee activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment to fabricate new equipment or improve existing equipment.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of each unit.
  • Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding/disciplining employees, and resolving problems.
  • Act as the primary interface with Control Room Operators and troubleshoot plant systems as needed.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures for improved stability and reliability.
  • Participate in improvement projects and assist in commissioning new equipment.
  • Organize and follow routine and non-routine maintenance activities related to the line.
  • Control product inputs and outputs according to company quality targets.
  • Work in compliance with environmental laws and company environmental commitments.
  • Work in compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and company occupational health and safety goals.
  • Create and implement daily, weekly, and monthly production plans to achieve production targets.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the production process.
  • Ensure optimum utilization of raw materials, energy, and other resources.
  • Manage quality control processes to ensure product compliance with quality standards, in coordination with the quality control laboratory.
  • Manage planned maintenance and repair programs to ensure efficient and safe operation of production equipment.
  • Minimize production interruptions by providing fast and effective interventions in case of malfunctions.
  • Contribute to spare parts management and equipment improvement projects in coordination with the maintenance team.
  • Quickly identify and analyze problems that may cause disruption in production and ensure minimum downtime by producing effective solutions.
  • Follow annual production plans and budget KPI targets, taking necessary actions to reach targets.
  • Plan detailed work for annual scheduled maintenance and follow the stock and orders of refractories for annual maintenance.
  • Supervise the implementation of occupational health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments, organize safety trainings, and take necessary measures to prevent occupational accidents.
  • Raise awareness of employees on occupational health and safety issues and encourage their participation.
  • Comply with environmental management policies and procedures to minimize environmental impact.
  • Take responsibility for emission control and waste management.
  • Comply with relevant environmental legislation and permits, and work in 100% compliance with environmental laws.
  • Follow emission limits such as NOx, SO2, HCL, etc., and comply with legal limits.
