About The Position

The Kids’ Ministry Coordinator oversees and organizes all aspects of Hillside Chapel’s Kids’ Ministry for children ages 0–11, including Nursery, Preschool, and Elementary Sunday School, as well as other children’s ministry events and programming. The coordinator develops and supports a team of volunteers who disciple children, equips parents to disciple their children, and assists with curriculum implementation and budget management. The role includes coordinating Sunday School teachers and classroom setup and teardown, recruiting and scheduling volunteers, training and caring for ministry volunteers, and ensuring compliance with child protection policies, training, and background checks. The coordinator is expected to serve in Sunday School as needed while also being able to attend church services.

Requirements

Be a follower of Jesus who serves as an example to children in the church and understands how the gospel transforms the lives of children and ministry volunteers.
Be a creative team leader and competent communicator with adults and children.
Have experience leading and working within a team.
Be willing to become a member of Hillside Chapel and align with the beliefs and theology of the Christian and Missionary Alliance.
Be able to consistently attend most Sunday church services.
Be competent with technology.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree and/or some Biblical or theological training in Christian education.
Experience overseeing a budget.
1–3 years’ experience in children’s ministry or classroom teaching.

Responsibilities

Oversee Kids’ Ministries for children ages 0–11 and develop a team of equipped volunteers to disciple children.
Aid the development and growth of Hillside Kids’ Ministries, including events and programming.
Equip parents for the discipleship of their children.
Assist with curriculum implementation by considering age appropriateness and theological alignment.
Manage the Kids’ Ministry budget.
Establish processes for setting up and tearing down Sunday School classrooms and ensure volunteers and teaching materials are in place before and after services.
Rotate serving in Nursery, Preschool, and Elementary Sunday Schools as needed.
Coordinate volunteer teachers for Nursery, Preschool, and Elementary Sunday Schools each Sunday.
Recruit volunteers for Kids’ Ministry.
Ensure volunteer coverage for Kids’ Ministry activities and events requiring childcare.
Train team members in classroom management and other teaching competencies.
Care for and encourage Kids’ Ministry volunteers, teachers, and leaders; periodically check on their spiritual health and ensure they are not overextending themselves.
Ensure compliance with child protection policies, periodic training, and background checks.
Keep families and volunteers informed about policy requirements.
