About The Position

Resurrection has an opening for a Kids Elementary Intern in our Ministries & Programs division! The position is full-time, exempt and is located at the Leawood campus at 13720 Roe Ave. The Kids Elementary Intern will work closely with the Elementary Program Director to help deliver high-quality programming for elementary-aged children on Sundays and Wednesdays. This role will also support Milestone events throughout the school year, as well as special events and ministry initiatives as part of the broader Leawood Kids team. The Kids Elementary Intern will assist with day-to-day ministry operations, including room setup, supply preparation, and weekly programming support, while also contributing to the larger vision and strategy of the elementary ministry. Responsibilities include partnering with volunteers, helping shape engaging weekly experiences, and supporting Sunday morning and special event programming. This internship is designed to provide hands-on ministry experience, leadership development, and opportunities for spiritual and professional growth in a collaborative church setting. This is a one-year internship beginning August 1.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare supplies and rooms for Sunday and Wednesday programming.
  • Work closely with the Elementary Program Director to shape curriculum and plans for weekly programming.
  • Plan & participate with children in age-appropriate activities & lessons, including leading large or small group experiences.
  • Support the milestone events with the elementary programming director.
  • Ability to work with different volunteer and staff personalities in multiple settings.
  • Work with the Leawood kids’ team to provide great special event experiences.
  • Participate in all Leawood Kids staff meetings and location meetings as assigned.
  • Participate in the curriculum process bringing new and fun ideas that help kids connect to Jesus.
  • Focus on the relational part of ministry connecting with kids, caregivers, and volunteers.
  • Keep CPR and Safe Gatherings Certifications up to date.
  • Follow Jesus and engage in the “five essential practices” of the Christian life: worship, study, serve, give, and share.
  • Support the church’s purpose of “building a Christian community where non-religious and nominally religious people become deeply committed Christians.”
  • Exemplify the church’s values and support its theological direction as a United Methodist Church.
