About The Position

Provide responsible supervision of infants, toddlers and school age children placed in your care while parents/guardians are elsewhere in the facility. Must be actively involved and attentive at all times. Responsible for ensuring the safety and security of children under your supervision. Requirements

  • Must be at least age 16.
  • High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, Child Abuse Prevention and Sexual Harassment training prior to first day of hire.
  • Ability to work long hours with positive attitude.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: child care.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.
  • Follows all procedures and standards.
  • Nurtures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.
  • Maintains a professional attitude in all circumstances.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
  • Communicates with parents/guardians regarding children’s behavior or illness.
  • Ensures that accident reports and reportable condition forms are filled out completely and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Notify supervisor of any problems or issues that arise during shift.
  • Assists with any other duties as assigned.
