Kids Club Counselor - Seasonal
About The Position
Under direct supervision, this role is responsible for supervising children and planning, organizing, and implementing day-to-day activities at various Elk Grove District 59 Schools. The position requires creating a safe, fun, and nurturing environment that fosters the development of each child's self-esteem through age-appropriate activities, crafts, and games. The counselor must be punctual, calm in stressful situations, and serve as an enthusiastic role model. This role also involves performing duties safely in compliance with district policies and procedures, and assisting with the School Days Off Program on additional days when school is not in session.
Requirements
- Current Food Handler Certification
- Valid CPR, First Aid, AED (Pediatric and Adult) Certifications.
- Know developmentally appropriate activities for the age of the children.
- Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees.
- Effective leadership skills.
- Good knowledge of pertinent safety precautions.
Nice To Haves
- Some college education preferred
Responsibilities
- Supervise children ranging from Kindergarten through 5th grades.
- Create monthly lesson plans that include theme days, special crafts, and other activities.
- Maintain a commitment to the development of each child's self-esteem by providing a safe, fun and nurturing environment through age appropriate activities, crafts, and games.
- Be present and on time to school every day.
- Displays the ability to stay calm in stressful situations.
- Attend all monthly staff meetings and other required trainings/events that are scheduled after normal working hours.
- Be enthusiastic – you are a role model.
- Performs the job safely and in compliance with district policies, procedures, work and safety rules.
- Be familiar with the safe operation of any equipment necessary in accomplishing required tasks.
- Assist in working the School Days Off Program on additional days that school is not scheduled.
