About The Position

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Child Watch Attendant maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects individuals, promotes the potential of all youth, and provides a quality experience to both youth and their families.

Requirements

• Minimum 16 years old
• Child & Infant CPR and First Aid certification.
• Knowledge of basic child supervision techniques.
• Ability to work with and interact with a diverse group of children and parents.
• All required online trainings must be completed before starting work, which will be compensated for accordingly.
• Criminal record clearance.

Responsibilities

• Set up daily activities, make sure room is safe before children enter, and report room needs to the designated person.
• Manage entry/exit from child watch room.
• Maintain required program records as required.
• Supervises children ages 6 months to 10 years, program area, and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate.
• Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents.
• Learn and attend to special needs of children in the child watch center and understand the concerns of parents regarding their children.
• Maintain program area and equipment.
• Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings as required.
• Performs other job-related duties as requested and necessary.
