About The Position

Keys Adventure Mates lead crews throughout a seven-day Keys Adventure, taking responsibility for their crew from arrival through departure. The program includes one night camping primitively on Big Munson Island; the remaining nights are spent in air-conditioned dorms at the Brinton Environmental Center.

Mates facilitate kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, fishing, snorkeling, and sailing while guiding crews, maintaining safety standards, and bringing an enthusiastic attitude. They serve as first mates aboard a 45-foot Corinthian and a 28-foot center console. They also mediate conflict, motivate participants, and develop crew members’ leadership skills. Mates work in groups of two to five other mates and must be team players.

This application is for the Summer 2027 season. Applications for other seasons must be submitted through the separate listings on the job board.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have current first aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
• Must be able to pass a US Coast Guard drug test upon arrival.
• Must be a competent swimmer and comfortable leading crews in water-based activities.
• Must be hard-working and a team player.
• Must be comfortable working long hours and doing physical activities.

Responsibilities
