About The Position

The Hilb Group is currently seeking a motivated and ambitious Key Team Senior Benefits Analyst to join our team. This position will report to our agency located in Cranston, RI. The ideal candidate will be motivated to succeed, is well organized, able to prioritize, and able to work well with a team. This is an in-office position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Finance, or a related field required.
  • 4+ years of experience in employee benefits analysis or consulting.
  • Deep knowledge of benefits compliance, plan design, and renewal processes.
  • Experience working with insurance carriers, TPAs, and vendor contracts.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with SharePoint or similar document management tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of Request for Proposals (RFPs), including gathering plan design information, rate history, enrollment and claims data, contribution details, and benefit change documentation.
  • Define and manage timelines for RFP and renewal deliverables, ensuring early engagement and adherence to key deadlines.
  • Draft cover materials including employer profiles, marketing objectives, and special conditions.
  • Analyze and present best-fit carrier options in alignment with client cost and benefit strategy.
  • Negotiate rates, fees, and terms with carriers to secure competitive offerings for clients.
  • Prepare executive-level renewal presentations including total cost summaries and year-over-year cost comparisons.
  • Develop and present financial exhibits using marketing and RFP results to support client decisions.
  • Review carrier contracts, certificates, and policy documents to confirm benefit accuracy, rate guarantees, commissions, eligibility, and class definitions.
  • Implement plan changes (e.g., Life and Disability) and validate compliance with rating structures, including Voluntary Life Table I requirements.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with state and local benefits regulations, including statutory disability, health care spending ordinances, and dental mandates.
  • Conduct thorough census reviews to determine statutory eligibility by jurisdiction (e.g., CA, MA, NY, TX, SF).
  • Coordinate with carriers and TPAs to fulfill state-specific filing and notice requirements.
  • Identify gaps in Life and Disability coverage and recommend plan adjustments.
  • Perform detailed census analysis to determine statutory plan eligibility.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for audit readiness, compliance tracking, and internal reporting.
  • Track and document all renewal and marketing efforts in SharePoint.
  • Ensure timely receipt of renewal data from carriers and facilitate end-to-end renewal coordination.
