About The Position

The Key Investment Services Internship is a structured 10.5-week experience from May 26, 2027, through August 6, 2027, based in Erie, Pennsylvania. Interns gain exposure to wealth management through hands-on work with a KIS Private Client Advisor, client discovery and financial planning activities, client meeting observation, and administrative support. The program includes ongoing feedback and coaching, learning labs, networking events, and a capstone group project addressing real-world industry topics. Key Investment Services provides investment guidance, planning services, and investment and insurance products to Key’s mass and mass affluent customers, helping them plan for retirement, save on taxes, educate their families, and transfer wealth.

The position requires compliance with KeyBank policies and procedures, professional and ethical conduct, avoidance of conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of clients and Key. Duties may change or additional duties may be assigned at any time. This position is in an environment where Key prioritizes in-office presence while allowing flexible options when work can be performed effectively in a mobile environment. The position pays $23 per hour and includes a $2,000 summer internship sign-on bonus. The posting notes that internship positions are not eligible for employment visa sponsorship.

Requirements

• Be pursuing a four-year or graduate-level degree by May 2029, with focused coursework in finance, accounting, economics, and/or data science.
• Demonstrate leadership and teamwork through work experience and/or extracurricular activities.
• Have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Have strong analytical skills to analyze financial data and client information for planning and decision-making.
• Have problem-solving skills to identify issues and develop effective solutions in a financial services context.
• Have strong verbal and written communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration.
• Be able to create and deliver presentations using tools such as PowerPoint.
• Be proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis and reporting.
• Have skills in building and maintaining client relationships and communicating effectively with clients and team members.
• Be able to routinely and frequently operate a motor vehicle and hold a valid driver’s license.
• Meet the stated physical demands, including prolonged sitting, face-to-face or phone communication, frequent PC/laptop use, and occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling of bags up to 10 pounds.
• The position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship, including cases where temporary work authorization would later require H-1B sponsorship.

• Participation in the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) program and completion of the CFP exam before graduation.

Responsibilities

• Partner with a KIS Private Client Advisor to gain hands-on experience.
