About The Position

The Key Carrier is responsible for the overall direction of store associates and coordination of store operations in the absence of key store management. This role upholds the Core Values of Houchens Ace Hardware and is primarily responsible for ensuring that every customer is amazed every time.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of retail experience.
  • Technically proficient in computer systems including related software.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to take initiative, assume responsibility, and execute thoroughly.
  • Ability to interact with staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Possession of a valid driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the company’s insurance carrier’s standards.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Opening and/or closing the store as dictated by schedule.
  • Serving as the “Manager on Duty” in the absence of management staff, which includes directing the store team and adhering to company policies and procedures related to store operations, merchandise receiving, store opening and closing processes, cash register transactions, daily cash reconciliation, and inventory control.
  • Resolving and/or reporting any issues pertaining to the shift, including employee, customer, and product issues.
  • Enforcing safety policies and procedures and serving as a role model for safety.
  • Performing other assigned tasks as directed by Supervision.
