About The Position

This seasonal full-time position, active in November and December 2026, is responsible for delivering kettles to assigned retail locations within Wake County and picking up kettles at the end of each shift. The role also provides transportation for paid Bell Ringers to and from their assigned locations. Additionally, the Kettle Driver will operate Salvation Army vehicles to transport donated gifts, stockings, and other Christmas program items from various collection sites to the Christmas warehouse. The job requires the ability to meet attendance requirements, communicate in English, drive a large van or minibus, use a smartphone for navigation, and perform physical tasks such as stooping, standing, climbing, lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling moderate to heavy materials. Work is conducted in a vehicle with exposure to outdoor temperatures and in a warehouse environment with potential exposure to dirt, dust, and disagreeable sights and odors.

Requirements

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
• Ability to drive a large van or minibus.
• Ability to use a smart phone and follow map routes.
• Ability to perform continuous stooping, standing and climbing as well as lift and carry and/or push/pull moderate (25 – 50 lbs) and possibly heavy (50-100 lbs) materials and donations.

Nice To Haves

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred but not required.
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Delivers and retrieves Red Kettles from assigned retail locations at the beginning and end of bell-ringing shifts.
• Provides transportation for designated paid bell ringers between The Salvation Army church on Wake Forest Road and assigned retail locations.
• Follows daily routes and schedules assigned by the Kettle Coordinator.
• Conducts regular check-ins with paid bell ringers along assigned routes to verify attendance, provide support, and address any issues.
• Reports concerns promptly to the Kettle Coordinator.
• Operates Salvation Army vehicles to transport donated gifts, stockings, and other Christmas program items from churches, businesses, and designated collection sites to the Christmas warehouse.
