About The Position

The Kettle Coordinator is responsible for managing the seasonal kettle operations, including site management, equipment maintenance, volunteer recruitment and scheduling, and data entry. This is a temporary, full-time position.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 21 (for insurance provision).
  • Possession of a valid in-state driver’s license.
  • Current Auto Insurance.
  • Ability to maneuver.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead.
  • Ability to operate telephone.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Ability to access and produce information from the computer.
  • Ability to understand written information.
  • Must be able to perform essential duties with or without accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • MVR will be processed every year in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies.
  • Biennial (every two years) background check processed in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies.

Responsibilities

  • Contact store managers to verify or seek permission to guarantee access to kettle sites via phone, letter, or in person.
  • Check and maintain all kettle equipment (kettles, stands, bells, aprons) to ensure they are clean and in good condition.
  • Order additional equipment if necessary.
  • Assist with advertising for bell ringer volunteers in newspapers, radio, etc.
  • Ensure all stands and signs are delivered to kettle sites a week prior to the scheduled start date.
  • Assist in conducting orientation meetings with kettle workers in October, reviewing responsibilities and guidelines, and ensuring agreements are signed.
  • Conduct weekly orientations for new workers as needed.
  • Manage the bell ringer scheduling process using the Register to Ring database.
  • Be available at the beginning and end of each day to assign workers to sites, discuss problems, and answer questions.
  • Drop off and pick up empty and full kettles from kettle locations.
  • Ensure Kettle Slips are in each kettle indicating the ringer's name, time, date, and location.
  • Input kettle amounts and other information into the Register to Ring database.
  • Ensure correct data is available daily to enter shifts into Register to Ring.
