About The Position

STV is seeking a seasoned civil engineering design professional to serve as the Kentucky Area Manager. This is a highly visible role focused on driving growth, market diversification, and providing exceptional leadership to the broader South Transportation Group. As the Area Manager for the Transportation Group in Kentucky, you will be the highest-ranking executive for STV’s Transportation Group in the state. Your performance will cultivate a vibrant, growth-oriented, collaborative, and robust business that is recognized as an active community member, a trusted client advisor, a valued teaming partner, an industry leader, and a formidable competitor.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Kentucky or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months.
  • 20+ years of experience in relevant market sector/s with a proven track record in operations leadership and project delivery.
  • Proven leader of multidisciplinary design teams, including Project Managers, Structural, civil, roadway, geotechnical, and survey.
  • Enjoy being both externally and internally facing, driving new business, optimizing relationships with existing clients, leading proposals/pursuit strategies, and leading a growing team of Architects and Engineers.
  • Subject matter expert in one or multiple vertical markets such as Transportation and Roadway Projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Registration in additional states is a plus.
  • Willingness and ability to sign & seal.
  • Prior ownership for a group P&L is preferred (not essential).

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for planning and organizing the business and making operational decisions to achieve STV’s strategic and annual outcomes for the Area.
  • Build on existing gross revenue, develop client relationships, drive revenue growth, improve project performance, enhance efficiency, and develop talent in this client-facing role.
  • Represent STV with clients, the industry, and the broader community across Kentucky.
  • Work with STV client service team leaders to ensure a robust relationship with clients.
  • Maintain close professional relationships with key individuals in client, teaming partner, industry, and community organizations.
  • Create and implement plans that align with and achieve STV’s strategic plan objectives.
  • Identify, recruit, and develop talent to grow the business and ensure a strong succession line for key leadership roles.
  • Provide effective management of STV’s local business activities, including client mix and services offering selection, acquiring new clients, winning new work, project execution, local hiring, resource planning, and overhead expenditure control.
  • Ensure the operation adheres to STV’s policies and procedures.
  • Identify, mentor, and train the next generation of future leaders.
  • Analyze and understand client, business, and industry issues that may affect STV’s business in Kentucky and prepare plans to capitalize on these trends.
  • Assess the performance of STV team members, take action to rectify shortfalls, and recognize and promote exceptional talent.
  • Analyze and report on business performance and implement timely measures to address adverse outcomes to ensure financial goals are achieved.
