About The Position

Magruder-Tabb Animal Clinic, located in the vibrant community of Yorktown, VA, is a well-respected small animal practice founded in 1989. We are excited to have recently moved into a brand new, custom-built 9,000 sq ft facility and are ready to welcome additional veterinarians! Our warm, collaborative environment is perfect for both new graduates and experienced veterinary professionals, and our team is experienced in mentoring new graduates. The Kennel Attendant is responsible for the daily care, cleanliness, and well-being of animals housed in the facility and throughout the hospital. This role supports veterinary staff by maintaining a clean environment, ensuring animals are comfortable, and assisting with basic animal care tasks.

Requirements

• Ability to handle animals of various sizes, breeds, and temperaments
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle physically demanding tasks (standing, bending, lifting up to 40 lbs)
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work weekends and holidays
• Compassion for animals and a strong work ethic
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to follow instructions and maintain consistent routines

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous animal care experience is a plus, but not required
• Basic understanding of animal behavior is a plus

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, watering, and administering basic care as directed
• Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, runs, and common areas to maintain a sanitary environment
• Monitor animal behavior, appetite, and overall health; report any concerns to veterinary staff
• Exercise and socialize animals as appropriate
• Launder bedding, towels, and other materials
• Maintain cleanliness of food preparation and storage areas
• Assist with intake and discharge of boarding or hospitalized animals
• Ensure proper handling and restraint of animals to promote safety
• Follow all safety, sanitation, and animal welfare protocols
