About The Position

Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital is hiring a full-time Kennel Assistant to work alongside experienced veterinarians, skilled technicians, and support staff to help ensure animals receive care during their stay. The role involves caring for boarding dogs and cats, monitoring their health and comfort, maintaining clean animal housing and related work areas, and assisting with boarding check-in and check-out. The position has a 40-hour work week, including weekends and holidays, and pays $15.00–$16.00 per hour depending on experience.

Responsibilities

Monitor animals’ health and comfort, respond to emergencies, and report health concerns.
Document treatments, activities, and observations.
Walk dogs in all weather conditions.
Feed dogs and cats and provide fresh water on schedule.
Clean dishes, bowls, litter boxes, kennels, and cages.
Replace soiled bedding and handle laundry tasks.
Bathe animals as necessary before discharge.
Perform housekeeping in animal housing, food preparation, and laundry areas.
Administer oral and topical medications, including flea and tick treatments.
Assist with boarding patient check-in and check-out, including proper labeling and identification collars.
Help alleviate stress in boarding animals through interactive play and mental stimulation.
