The Kennel Assistant maintains the cleanliness and organization of the hospital by cleaning kennels, floors, counters, and exam rooms; completing assigned duties before the end of the shift; and organizing incoming orders and restocking supplies. The role supports the hospital’s day-to-day flow and efficiency, assists with patient restraint when needed, and follows protocols to maintain a sterile, clean, and organized environment. The assistant also provides professional, efficient service and communicates and coordinates effectively with veterinary team members and clients. The position is performed onsite at the hospital or at an approved offsite event location; remote work is not available. The work environment has limited space, animal waste odors, and noise such as barking. Schedules may include shifts of 10 or more hours, Saturdays, evenings, and holidays. The role involves handling animals and possible exposure to bites or scratches, biological hazards, anesthesia medication odors, radiation near an X-ray machine, and prescription medications, including controlled substances.
