About The Position

Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees such as paid leave and holidays. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work
  • 4 years post MSW with progressively increasing experience related to supporting social work and its intersection with hooponopono
  • Experience in collaborating and coordinating with cultural experts in cultural practices.
  • Strong experience in community engagement with Native Hawaiian serving organizations and integration in social work practice for all.
  • Strong background in Native Hawaiian cultural practices
  • Strong experience with Zoom
  • Strong oral, writing, and interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing work with Hooponopono practitioners.
  • Expertise in drafting project reports and grants for local and federal organizations
  • Competency in cross-cultural community work

Responsibilities

  • Develop sessions that bring together practitioners connected to hooponopono, creating spaces for intentional connection, story-sharing, and collective learning across geographic distances.
  • Review and integrate session evaluations, community feedback, and practitioner recommendations to refine approaches to community-engaged conversations and identify actionable next steps.
  • Review and synthesize feedback from sessions to identify key themes, insights, and opportunities to strengthen culturally-anchored engagement approaches.
  • Emphasize processes of reflection, accountability, reconciliation, and restoration to inform continuous improvement in advancing social justice, health, and well-being.
  • Analyze engagement outcomes from Conversation Sessions , etc connected to hooponopono to identify emerging needs, opportunities for deeper connection, and pathways for sustained, meaningful engagement across geographic contexts.
  • Support and document themes of the conversations through recommending enhanced community engagement efforts and reflective practices to inform future directions.
  • Engage with cultural practitioners to gather input and guidance, ensuring that insights are meaningfully incorporated to uphold and strengthen ongoing and future work.
  • Prepare summary reports, briefs, social media posts, and/or websites, etc and recommendations, as designated by the project lead, that outline key findings, lessons learned, and proposed next steps.
  • Other duties as assigned.
