About The Position

The Montana Department of Justice is dedicated to ensuring the well-being and rights of the people of Montana, fostering a culture of character, excellence, collaboration, and public service. The Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) focuses on efficient, cost-effective programs for the safety and well-being of Montana citizens through licensing, registering, and regulating motoring activities. MVD operates offices statewide and with over 60 partner locations, committed to public safety, service, teamwork, and innovation. The Driver Examiner position is a public-facing, customer service role. Responsibilities include greeting customers, answering questions, issuing various ID cards and driver's licenses (including commercial), and overseeing the associated testing. The role requires attention to detail with multiple software programs and involves ensuring public safety by verifying identification, confirming test completion, and identifying when additional documentation is needed. The incumbent must be prepared to work outdoors in inclement weather and undertake day travel to other exam stations 1-2 days a week, with the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • One year experience working with computerized data systems
  • One year customer service experience
  • One year of cash handling experience
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver License (CDL) for testing and training purposes, within the first year
  • Willingness and ability to work outdoors in inclement weather
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
