About The Position

The Principal shall be responsible for the operation of the school within the framework of the existing policies of Summit Management Consulting, LLC. East Shore Leadership Academy is a K-8 public charter school located in Port Huron.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required with appropriate experience in a leadership role
  • Appropriate teaching certification and administrator certification required.

  • master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively communicate the Academy’s goals to the K-8 teaching and building staff.
  • Serves as an instructional leader of the K-8 school building.
  • Provide ongoing professional development for staff and demonstrates a commitment to sound research-based instructional practices.
  • Leads the improvement of student achievement by utilizing the components of the approved academic model.
  • Leads ongoing instruction for all staff members about components of the approved academic model.
  • Monitors lesson plans to ensure that they reflect the school pacing calendars.
  • Plans and facilitates professional development to increase staff knowledge about effective instruction.
  • Regularly observes teachers, providing specific feedback about their performance, and gives suggestions for continuous improvement.
  • Fosters a positive school climate by assessing, planning, and communicating with the school community.
  • Recruit, supervise, evaluate, and develop instructional and support staff while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Manages personnel effectively through appropriate delegation, planning and evaluation.
  • Fosters an environment where staff and faculty work cooperatively together.
  • Collaborate with Summit Management Consulting, LLC to develop staffing plans, manage the Academy budget, and ensure responsible stewardship of financial and operational resources.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, authorizer, Board, and Academy policies, including student services, special education, pupil accounting, and school safety requirements.
  • Promotes an environment where the Administrator and staff are accessible.
  • Promotes a positive tone for collaborative school/community relations by articulating the mission, seeking community support, and fostering rapport while demonstrating an awareness of cultural activities.
  • Provides leadership in professional growth through active participation, professional conduct and dissemination of ideas that foster mutual respect between the school and the larger community.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee consistent with the responsibilities of the position.
