About The Position

The ELL Teacher designs and delivers language acquisition support for students whose first language is not English, using evidence-based strategies to advance academic language proficiency and content access. Global Educational Excellence (GEE) operates a network of charter schools across Southeast Michigan focused on academic achievement and community. Requirements

Bachelor's degree required
Valid Michigan teaching certificate with an ESL/ELL or Bilingual endorsement (NZ, NE, or equivalent) as defined by the Michigan State Board of Education
Satisfactory criminal background check

Nice To Haves

Candidates who do not yet hold a Michigan teaching certificate may qualify through enrollment in GEE's Career Advancement Program (CAP), which provides a supported pathway to Michigan certification. CAP eligibility is determined at the time of application.

Responsibilities

Assess student language proficiency using WIDA screener and ACCESS assessments; maintain accurate progress records for all ELL students
Provide direct instruction, co-teaching, and push-in/pull-out language support aligned with WIDA standards
Collaborate with classroom teachers to differentiate content-area instruction for English learners
Identify and properly enroll students with Limited English Proficiency; maintain ELL program records per MDE requirements
Serve as a liaison between families, school staff, and community resources
Participate in Child Study Team meetings and professional development
