About The Position

Study Smart is hiring a part-time substitute tutor to teach Math and English Language Arts to students in grades K–12 in La Plata, Maryland. The tutor provides academic support to small and large groups, adapts to new materials and teaching strategies, and communicates consistently with Study Smart staff. The tutor partners with Study Smart’s Education team to provide comprehensive learning strategies for students and has access to information about class assignments. Schedules vary by site, with availability sought Monday through Friday during or after school hours.

Requirements

• Completed four-year degree.
• Teaching or tutoring experience is strongly desired.
• Availability Monday through Friday during or after school hours; schedules vary across sites.
• Complete and pass a background check, which may include fingerprinting depending on location.

Responsibilities

• Tutor Math and ELA to students in grades K–12.
• Provide tutoring support to small and large groups of students.
