About The Position

Hemlock Public School District is seeking a passionate and dynamic K-12 Art Teacher to join their team and help shape the artistic journey of their youngest learners. The district has a newly expanded Art Program that gives every child dedicated time to imagine, and is committed to nurturing creativity as a core part of a well-rounded education. Requirements

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certification
  • Meet the definition of Highly Qualified Teacher per federal regulations
  • Meet requirements for a background check and fingerprinting
  • Successful experience working with students
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of content expectations/standards pertinent to the grade level
  • Knowledge of best practices in classroom instruction and technology integration
  • Experience working as part of a collaborative team

Responsibilities

  • Build strong relationships with students and deliver instruction using research-based strategies across whole-group, small-group, and individualized settings.
  • Plan and implement high-quality lessons that align with state standards and integrate best practices such as explicit instruction, checks for understanding, and differentiated supports to promote achievement in all core content areas.
  • Use a variety of formative and summative assessment tools to monitor student progress, inform instructional decisions, and provide timely, targeted feedback.
  • Establish a structured, respectful classroom environment by consistently applying proactive classroom management techniques, restorative practices, and positive behavior supports.
  • Actively engage in professional learning communities to analyze student data, co-plan lessons, and reflect on instructional practices.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and families to foster a culture of academic excellence and a positive school climate.
