About The Position

UPrep is seeking a talented, engaging, and compassionate JVC Volleyball Coach. We look for staff and faculty who share our belief that a culturally rich and inclusive school community provides students with the best possible environment for a quality education. We need a leader who understands best practices in coaching volleyball and thrives on working independently as well as part of a team. If that sounds like you, we’d like to hear from you. Job Summary: Under general supervision, is responsible for cooperating with the Varsity Head Coach to lead one of the two JV Volleyball teams. Season begins on Monday, August 24th and concludes late October. Practices will be held approximately four to five times a week 3:00-4:30 or 4:30-6:00 as facility space allows. There will be Saturday practices and games.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Demonstrated competence and experience in coaching volleyball required
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain valid First Aid/CPR card

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in physical education or related field from a four-year college or university preferred
  • Recent successful coaching experience in an Upper School environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Teaches appropriate fundamentals, techniques and skills
  • Is responsible for health and safety of the athletes
  • In cooperation with Varsity Head Coach, articulates a well-defined and understandable coaching philosophy
  • Applies developmentally appropriate and age-appropriate methods to coaching student-athletes
  • Emphasize sportsmanship and leadership among athletes
  • Clearly communicates to players, parents, administrators and staff
  • Positively motivate athletes and promote teamwork
  • Attends all meetings and training as required by the league and/or Athletic Director
  • Is familiar with and comply with all policies and regulations as put forth in the school’s documents
  • Since safety and security are everyone’s responsibility, it takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, faculty, staff, equipment, materials and facilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Benefits

  • Salary Stipend is based on experience and ranges from $4,000-$5,000
  • Stipend paid in two installments on the last workday of each month of September and October
  • This position is eligible for statutory benefits only
